What better way to spend your weekend than sipping sparkling wine in the sun!

Dine alfresco in style this summer. Picnics are the perfect answer for almost any summer celebration or get together, whether it’s an intimate gathering for two or you’re inviting a large group of friends, you’re guaranteed to have a lovely time. There are few other activities we can think of which are quite as quintessentially British as a picnic especially accompanied by copious amounts of English sparkling wine!

Finding a picturesque spot is essential when hosting a picnic, London has a great variety of idyllic green spaces, some of our favourite spots in the city include Holland Park, Primrose Hill and Kensington Gardens. In Holland Park you can find the magical Kyoto Gardens, with a unique Japanese-style landscape and tranquil tiered waterfalls, Holland Park is the perfect spot to relax. Walking to the top of Primrose Hill will provide you with a magical view of the city, if you do choose to host your picnic on Primrose Hill, we recommend that you take the opportunity to wander through the pastel-coloured streets in the area beforehand. Finally Kensington Gardens royal charm makes it a lovely spot to relax into a picnic, with a statue of Peter Pan this unique garden has an utterly magical feel to it.

Why not use accessories to add a luxury feel to your picnic, we love bringing an ice bucket with us to pop a bottle of Doe Eyed Queen in and a pretty tray to place our glasses on in order to avoid spilt wine! Glassware is always a nice touch, you don’t need to be nervous about bringing champagne flutes with you - just make sure you wrap them up securely when packing them. If you fancy going all out place some little flowers in a decorative glass jar and pop these in the middle of your picnic blanket, these small touches create a beautiful setting. To ensure your set up is picture perfect set up, select a colour scheme for your picnic attire, we always go for our signature macaroon green and blush pink colours, link all your items through with this colour scheme keeping it in mind when investing in new rugs, cushions, accessories and plates!

Popping to your local deli and selecting a range of dips and crudités is a great solution if you’re rushed for time, however if you have a little bit of extra time to spare it is definitely worth elevating your spread of food with a couple of homemade additions. We recommend making a mixture of sweet and savoury canapés, our personal favourites which pair perfectly with Doe Eyed Queen include macaroons, chocolate coated strawberries, fresh crab tarts and salmon blinis, you can find recipes for these delightful canapés here.
